Photobiomodulation (PBM) Highlights
Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT) is poised to become an important treatment option for acute and chronic pain, for the following reasons:
-
Broader acceptance of laser therapy by both medical practitioners and patients alike.
-
An increasingly friendly regulatory environment.
-
Pivotal clinical trials that building scientific support for the technology.
-
Improvements in laser technology are creating better medical devices at more competitive costs.
-
Building payor support for PBMT reimbursement.
-
It's the perfect market environment for an innovative PBMT technology like Rezalox™ Therapy System.

PBM Science
Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT) is a technology that uses medical lasers to treat a variety of
pain conditions and syndromes. It works by increasing blood flow to the affected areas and
interrupting hyperstimulation of nerves / muscle contraction pain loops. This can result in reduced
pain and inflammation (in addition to enhanced tissue repair / healing), and in some cases,
complete resolution of pain.
PBMT has existed for decades and has been the subject of thousands of research papers and
hundreds of clinical trials.
It has proven to often be a relatively safe, quick, non-invasive, and inexpensive treatment option
for both acute and chronic pain, especially compared to other treatment options like surgery,
opioids, pain medications, and physical therapy.
PBMT is a strong alternative to opioids for the treatment of pain and PBMT is being studied in
clinical trials as a treatment for Opioid Use Syndrome in an effort to help solve this crisis.
Given rapid advances in PBMT technology which are further improving the power and targeting
of PBMT treaments, reducing product costs, and innovations in PBMT treatment of pain, the stage
is being set for PBMT to become an even more valuable treatment option for both physicians and
patients alike.

One of our primary target medical conditions is acute/chronic pelvic pain. We have deep scientific, medical, and market knowledge for this condition. Please view the modules below to learn more about the scientific foundations of pelvic pain.
PBM Perspectives
A Perspective on Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
There is a common misconception that the pelvic floor works in isolation. What is even more common is that healthcare providers, including OB/GYNs, urologists, and orthopedic surgeons fail to recognize...
PBMT Administered Vaginally, Background & Science
Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) affects an estimated 26% of the world’s female population [1]. 30% of American female Veterans (~670,000) are included in the 22 million American women who suffer from CPP [2]. Chronic bladder pain (CBP), which is primarily caused by a chronic inflammatory disease in the bladder walls, known as Interstitial Cystitis (IC), can coexist or cause overlapping symptoms in CPP sufferers since the bladder is a pelvic organ. There are an estimated 7.9 million American women suffering ...
Mechanisms of Chronic Bladder & Pelvic Pain
Chronic Pelvic Pain (CPP) typically starts as minor and localized pain symptomatology and transitions to more severe pain while involving larger areas within the pelvis and pelvic girdle. CPP is a complex and confusing disease and is more common in women than men; CPP remains misunderstood by most healthcare providers...
